Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) by Linseis is a proven thermal analysis technique used for the qualitative and quantitative investigation of phase transitions and thermal effects in materials.

In DTA, the temperature difference between a sample and an inert reference is measured as both are subjected to the same controlled heating or cooling program. Any phase transition or chemical reaction in the sample results in an endothermic or exothermic signal, allowing precise identification of glass transitions, crystallization, melting, sublimation, and decomposition phenomena.

Linseis offers advanced DTA systems based on a modular platform, sharing core components with its DSC technology. This modular design allows the configuration of instruments for an exceptionally wide temperature range from –150 °C up to 2400 °C, using different furnaces, sensors, and crucibles.

A flagship solution in this category is the DTA PT 1600, which supports high-temperature analysis under controlled atmospheres or high vacuum (up to 10⁻⁵ mbar). Thanks to its vacuum-tight construction, the system enables clean, contamination-free measurements and accurate enthalpy determination.

For advanced material characterization, Linseis DTA systems can be coupled with mass spectrometry (MS) or FTIR, providing additional insight into evolved gases during thermal events.
